Why read this blog?

What’s really going on in the U.S. and the world?
You can read the news, the columnists, the pundits, but… what’s really going on?
Kahuna Cliff only knows what he knows, sees what he sees, and thinks what he thinks. But he lives in the heartland of the United States and travels around the world with some regularity – so he sees a lot. This blog captures a little of the data and impressions he gathers, both from the heartland and around the world, and how he thinks those things relate to what’s in the news today.
Why might that be of interest to you?
Perhaps a tidbit of information about economic activity in a particular area can shed light on what’s being claimed by national observers. Perhaps a bit of thoughtful reflection can spark thoughts and ignite possibilities you hadn’t considered before.
“Kahuna,” of course, is an Hawaiian term. There, kahuna’s are thought to be priests, sorcerers, magicians, wizards, ministers, and professional experts. Maybe Kahuna Cliff has a few of those traits hidden somewhere, but mostly he’s just a thoughtful observer who occasional deduces something surprising.
Insights from the Heartland is intended to offer those who are interested the observations and opinions of one man (although he may occasionally have a guest) who just may come up with an insight or two that you’ll find valuable. If you do, it’ll have been worth our time. If not, well, most of what we read isn’t of much value anyway, is it?
Happy reading. Happy thinking. Happy reasoning.
